We are looking for:

 

  • The APC Engineer is responsible for Advanced Process Control projects, from the analysis of the process (together with process/production people), detailed design of the (A)PC solution and the final DCS (or alternative computational hardware) Software basic/detailed implementation, in order to promote the production of quantities and qualities of desired product at the lowest cost in accordance with applicable safety and environmental Solvay group state of the art procedures and Corporate Values (i.e. Responsible Care ).

 

  • Organize, design and carry out the development, implementation and maintenance of Automation, Advanced/Basic Control and Process Optimization.
  • Help verifying that process instruments (valves, actuators, VSDs, Instruments, Basic Analyzers: pH Density, Redox) are adequate for the new (A) PC projects participating from the beginning in projects that involves new development in (A) PC and Automation in general.
  • Bring (A)PC support for plants in a defined GBU zone, helping local APC Engineers (if existing) or developing the whole project with the local team (locally and/or remotely), while keeping the support to the local plant where is based.
  • If required, participate in Manufacturing Excellence projects at GBU level.

  • Process Engineering: Instrumentation, Thermodynamics, principles of Fluid Mechanics, Equipment knowledge.
  • Industrial IT: software programming and implementation in Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), like: DCS (mainly Honeywell TDC3000/Experion), PLC (Allen Bradley), SIS PLC, SCADA.
  • Technology of batch engines, and knowledge of standard ANSI/ISA S88
  • General IT: Operating Systems knowledge, programming in imperative languages (Basic, C) and OOP (VBA, C++, and others)
  • Network knowledge, hardware and software (router and firewall configuration, VPN, DMZ, etc.)
  • PIMS software, Osisoft PI needed, and other like Infoplus IP.21: usage, configuration, tools and maintenance of server, interfaces and applications
  • Instrumented Safety: SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems, ISA 84), specification, software programming and implementation of SIFs.

You will bring:

 

  • University level degree in any of the following areas:
  • Chemical/Process engineers, mathematicians/physicists with experience in control
  • Electronic/Electrical Engineers with some process experience in plants
  • Electrical Engineer/Mathematicians/Physicists/Chemical engineers with a PhD on APC.
  • Control engineers from Petrochemical plant with experience in APC
  • More than 5 years’ experience in Process Control engineering, development and start up, or similar field of work with experience in control systems, willing to learn and specialize in it.
  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing/operating plant environment

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $90,821 to $113,562 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.

  • Travel and Remote work Requirements
  • Willing to travel to the different plants in the group (GBU), mostly in the designated zone, but also at a global scale when needed
  • Travel availability to be up to between 30% and 50% of the total working time
  • Based on a site but available to work remotely to assist different plants
